Located in southeastern Connecticut, the City of Norwich is a charming 360-year young community with a history that predates the founding of the nation. Within its borders, Norwich offers an urban living environment with a rural and small-town feel. We are proud of our historic downtown center, our beautiful harbor and marina that hosts numerous festivals and concerts, our growing arts community made up of multiple museums, galleries, and a Black Box theater performing all new musicals; as well as restaurants that reflect our cultural diversity.
For those who want a quiet shady place to rest, we offer our many parks and town greens. For fishing enthusiasts, our river is host to fishing tournaments and home to some great fishing holes. For boaters, the newly upgraded Marina is convenient to reach. We have a newly renovated shopping mall, shopping plazas with stores of all kinds, and a seasonal Farmers Market downtown.
Our residents have access to public and private neighborhood elementary schools, a world-class privately endowed high school, a technical high school, and a community college. Additionally, we are home to the William W. Backus hospital, a 213-bed acute care facility that serves nearly a quarter-million people annually and is the only trauma center east of the Connecticut River.
You are invited to discover all that Norwich has to offer! Visit our galleries, revisit our history, enjoy live theater, and cheer on the hometown baseball team.
